Extended Shipping Protection Policy
Extended Shipping Protection Policy
Effective Date: May 15, 2026
Policy Version: 2026-05-15
Extended Shipping Protection is an optional expedited damage-resolution service available on eligible orders. It is designed to help North Country Fire resolve valid, timely, properly documented shipping-damage issues faster by beginning the remedy process without waiting for final carrier, warehouse, manufacturer, or distributor claim approval.
Extended Shipping Protection is not insurance. It does not cover theft, loss in transit, loss after delivery, buyer’s remorse, standard returns, restocking fees, customer-paid return shipping, installation issues, product selection errors, labor, consequential costs, or damage caused after delivery.
Extended Shipping Protection does not replace, waive, reduce, or extend the customer’s responsibility to receive, inspect, document, photograph, retain packaging, note visible freight damage when applicable, and report shipments according to North Country Fire’s standard Shipping, Delivery, Damage Reporting, and Return Policies.
Cost and Calculation
The cost of Extended Shipping Protection is calculated based on the protected item’s pre-discount retail value. This may include the manufacturer suggested retail price, list price, compare-at price, regular retail price, or another pre-discount product value maintained in North Country Fire’s system.
Extended Shipping Protection is not calculated based on the final discounted purchase price, sale price, coupon-adjusted price, promotional price, gift-card-adjusted balance, store-credit-adjusted balance, order subtotal, tax, shipping charge, or other post-discount amount.
Discount codes, coupons, promotions, sale prices, gift cards, rewards, store credits, and other discounts do not reduce the Extended Shipping Protection fee unless North Country Fire expressly states otherwise in writing.
For orders with multiple eligible items, the Extended Shipping Protection fee may be calculated separately for each eligible protected item or based on the combined pre-discount retail value of eligible protected items.
If an order is changed before shipment, including adding, removing, substituting, or repricing items, the Extended Shipping Protection fee may be recalculated based on the updated eligible protected items and their applicable pre-discount retail values.
The Extended Shipping Protection fee shown at checkout is the applicable fee for the order. If Extended Shipping Protection is not wanted, the customer should remove it before completing checkout.
Customer Receiving Responsibilities Still Apply
Customers who purchase Extended Shipping Protection must still follow North Country Fire’s standard receiving and damage-reporting requirements.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Inspecting the shipment promptly upon delivery;
- Taking photos of the shipment and packaging;
- Inspecting the product for visible or concealed damage;
- Keeping all packaging materials;
- Reporting damage within the required reporting window;
- Noting visible freight damage on the bill of lading, freight bill, delivery receipt, or electronic delivery record when applicable;
- Refusing severely damaged freight shipments when appropriate;
- Providing photos and documentation requested by North Country Fire.
Extended Shipping Protection does not waive these responsibilities.
Expedited Damage Resolution
For eligible orders with Extended Shipping Protection, North Country Fire will expedite the resolution of valid shipping-damage claims that are reported within the required reporting window and supported by the required photos and documentation.
If a valid shipping-damage claim is verified, North Country Fire may begin the remedy process without waiting for final carrier, warehouse, manufacturer, or distributor claim approval.
Depending on the product, damage, documentation, and available inventory, North Country Fire may initiate one or more of the following remedies:
- Shipment of replacement parts;
- Shipment of replacement components;
- Shipment of touch-up paint or cosmetic repair materials;
- Repair authorization;
- Shipment of a replacement unit;
- Return instructions;
- Refund or partial refund, if approved;
- Another reasonable remedy selected by North Country Fire.
Extended Shipping Protection helps accelerate the remedy process for valid, timely, properly documented shipping-damage claims. It does not guarantee that every damage issue will result in a full product replacement.
Right to Select the Remedy
North Country Fire reserves the right to determine the appropriate remedy for a damaged item.
Remedies are generally applied in the following order of preference:
- Replacement parts, replacement components, touch-up paint, or repair materials when the damage is cosmetic, limited, repairable, or isolated to a replaceable part;
- Repair authorization when a repair is reasonable and appropriate;
- Full unit replacement when the item is structurally compromised, unsafe to operate, materially unusable, or not reasonably repairable.
A request for a full unit replacement may be denied if the damage can reasonably be resolved with parts, components, paint, repair materials, or repair authorization.
Extended Shipping Protection does not include labor, installation, removal, diagnosis, contractor fees, project delays, permit fees, inspection fees, storage fees, travel costs, or other consequential costs unless North Country Fire agrees otherwise in writing.
Damage Reporting Window
Extended Shipping Protection does not remove or extend the customer’s obligation to report damage promptly.
Visible freight damage must still be documented at delivery and noted on the bill of lading, freight bill, delivery receipt, or electronic delivery record when applicable.
Concealed damage must be reported within the reporting window stated in North Country Fire’s applicable Shipping, Delivery, Damage Reporting, and Return Policies.
Claims submitted outside the applicable reporting window may be denied.
What Extended Shipping Protection Does Not Cover
Extended Shipping Protection does not cover:
- Buyer’s remorse;
- Customer-paid return shipping for standard returns;
- Restocking fees for standard returns;
- Theft after delivery;
- Loss in transit;
- Loss after carrier-confirmed delivery;
- Damage caused after delivery;
- Damage caused by unpacking, moving, lifting, storage, handling, installation, modification, misuse, weather exposure, or third-party contractors;
- Installed, used, burned, connected, modified, or altered products;
- Missing packaging;
- Missing parts, accessories, manuals, labels, inserts, or protective materials;
- Products not returned in sellable condition when a return is required;
- Labor, installation, removal, diagnosis, contractor fees, project delays, or consequential damages;
- Incorrect shipping information provided by the customer;
- Special-order, custom-order, final-sale, or non-returnable items unless specifically shown as eligible;
- Products returned without authorization;
- Products shipped to the wrong return address;
- Damage during return shipment caused by improper packaging or customer-arranged return shipping;
- Failure to follow North Country Fire’s receiving, inspection, documentation, reporting, packaging-retention, or return instructions.
Standard Returns Are Not Included
Extended Shipping Protection does not modify North Country Fire’s standard return policy for non-damaged items.
If a customer returns an item because they do not want it, do not like it, selected the wrong product, no longer need it, purchased a replacement elsewhere, or made a product-selection error, the return is treated as a standard return.
For standard returns, the customer remains responsible for return shipping, and approved returns remain subject to the applicable restocking fee.
Returned items must be received in sellable condition according to North Country Fire’s standard return policy.
Return Inspection Still Required
If North Country Fire requires a damaged item to be returned, a return authorization is not a guarantee of refund, credit, or replacement.
All returned items may be inspected by the warehouse, manufacturer, distributor, or return location.
If the returned item is received damaged in a way that was not part of the approved damage claim, used, installed, modified, incomplete, missing parts, missing packaging, improperly packaged, or otherwise not in the required condition, the claim or refund may be denied.
Return Shipping for Approved Damage Remedies
If North Country Fire determines that a damaged item must be returned as part of an approved Extended Shipping Protection damage remedy, North Country Fire may arrange or cover the return freight method selected by North Country Fire.
North Country Fire reserves the right to choose the return carrier, return method, pickup method, return location, and shipping service.
The customer must make the item reasonably available for pickup and must package and secure the item in a manner suitable for safe freight transit.
Extended Shipping Protection does not cover additional return costs caused by limited-access pickup locations, remote locations, missed pickup appointments, incorrect addresses, unavailable customers, storage, reconsignment, redelivery, special handling, inside pickup, white-glove service, or other accessorial charges unless North Country Fire agrees otherwise in writing.
Non-Refundable After Shipment
Extended Shipping Protection is refundable only if the order is canceled before shipment and no protected service has been used.
Once an order has shipped, the Extended Shipping Protection fee is non-refundable.
Eligibility and Limits
Extended Shipping Protection applies only to the order or eligible item for which it was purchased.
It is not transferable to another order, customer, address, product, or shipment.
Not all products, orders, shipping destinations, or delivery circumstances are eligible for Extended Shipping Protection.
The maximum monetary refund or credit available under Extended Shipping Protection will not exceed the amount actually paid for the protected item, excluding taxes, unrelated shipping charges, installation costs, labor costs, contractor fees, consequential damages, and other excluded costs. This limit does not prevent North Country Fire from providing a non-cash remedy, such as parts, repair materials, repair authorization, components, or replacement product, when North Country Fire determines that remedy is appropriate.
North Country Fire may deny Extended Shipping Protection benefits for fraud, misrepresentation, abuse, repeated claim activity, failure to provide requested documentation, failure to retain packaging, failure to cooperate with the claim process, or failure to follow receiving, damage-reporting, or return instructions.
Relationship to Standard Policies
Extended Shipping Protection modifies only the specific expedited damage-resolution benefits described above.
All other North Country Fire policies remain in effect, including the Shipping, Delivery, Damage Reporting, Return, Cancellation, Warranty, Payment Dispute, Chargeback, Non-Payment, Collections, Governing Law, and Forum Selection Policies.
If there is a conflict between this Extended Shipping Protection Policy and North Country Fire’s standard policies, this policy controls only for the specific expedited damage-resolution benefit. All standard customer responsibilities, documentation requirements, exclusions, inspection requirements, reporting requirements, return requirements, and return-condition requirements continue to apply unless expressly modified in writing.
