1. Do I need to purchase a panel or trim kit with the fireplace?

No, these are optional accessories to enhance the look of the GX36. The fireplace can be purchased without adding any additional features, although most customers prefer to add a panel and trim kit to complete the look and feel of the installation.

2. How will the fireplace be delivered? Will the delivery driver bring it into my house?

All fireplaces are delivered via freight (tractor trailer truck) to the specified street address you provide us, we do provide free lift gate service with all freight deliveries. The delivery driver is only responsible for unloading the items from the truck, not to move them anywhere. For more information on the delivery process visit our FAQ page.

3. The picture shows logs, are those included?

Yes, the logs are included with the GX36. There are also shore fire and beach fire kits available which replace the logs with stones and driftwood. You can find these on the GX36 Accessories page.

4. How is the fireplace vented?

The GX36 is a top or rear vent and typically vented using Napoleon's 4x7 venting components, you can find them here. For a simple venting kit when the fireplace will be placed on an exterior wall, you can use the 4x7 Top Vent Kit or 4x7 Rear Vent Kit. If you need help designing the venting system let us know with an email or a phone call and we can assemble a custom solution for your situation.

5. What's the difference between Electronic Ignition and Standing Pilot/Millivolt Ignition?

Standing pilot is an older style of ignition with which you need to manually light the pilot with a push button igniter (like a gas grill) each season. The pilot then typically remains on for the entire portion of the year you expect to use the fireplace. A Standing Pilot system uses the small amount of power generated by the pilot flame to power the main gas burner and does not require any electricity to operate (except for lights and blowers). The Electronic Ignition system is hard wired with 120V, with this system the pilot typically remains off until the fireplace is turned on at which point the system will light the pilot automatically and verify it, then turn on the main burner. This system has a battery back up in order to work during a power outage. There is an optional Anti-Condensation Switch which can be added to an Electronic System which allows you to choose between having the pilot on constantly (used in cold climates to prevent condensation on glass) or having the pilot on intermittently (pilot comes on only when fireplace is turned on).

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • Can these be power vented and or a list of products that can, I want too install one but it will terminate out the rear and under my stairs make aright go aprox 10,12 ft and out of house

Yes, the GX36 can be power vented as long as the venting requirements are met.  For example, a power vent must have a minimum total length of at least 10 ft and a maximum downward vent length of 8ft.  For the full installation instructions, refer to the PVA-Ascent Installation Manual and the GPV Installation Manual.  If you would like additional assistance designing your venting system, please email us at  Thanks for your question!

  • Is this unit available equiped for propane?

Yes, they recently updated the GX36 to separate the natural gas version from the propane version without needing a conversion kit, for now, we send a conversion kit with each fireplace.  Our update should be coming on line by tomorrow.  We can also put together a custom quote for you with our best discounts.  Thanks for your question!
