What size area can the stove heat? Love the look but want to purchase the right product. Looking to install in dining/living room area to supplement electric heat. Thank you
That's a complicated question! There's a general rule that states you need the following for a heat source, 30-35 BTU's per sq ft for a mild climate and 50-60 BTU's per sq ft for a cold climate. Which would translate roughly into 580-680 square ft in a mild climate or 340-410 square ft in a cold climate after taking into account the efficiency. But these numbers are presented as if the stove would be the only heat source. Since you'll be supplementing an existing heat source, you should be able to create a nice balance between the stove and the existing heat. Also, with any gas stove, you usually want to be a little bit undersized as they are more efficient when warmed up and run for longer periods of time. You don't want to have the stove turn off because it's become too warm in the room before you get to enjoy it.
So in short, the Castlemore is a nice mid-size stove that should fit well with most installations. The gas input can be adjusted from 12,500-25,000 BTU's giving you a nice range of heat output.
