Why am I required to purchase a decorative panel with the fireplace at additional cost?
The fireplace is designed for use with this item. Without this item, your fireplace would not function correctly and would look incomplete. The item is an additional cost to allow you to choose which look you like best.
How will the fireplace be delivered? Will the delivery driver bring it into my house?
All fireplaces are delivered via freight (tractor trailer truck) to the specified street address you provide us, we do provide free lift gate service with all freight deliveries. The delivery driver is only responsible for unloading the items from the truck, not to move them anywhere. For more information on the delivery process visit our FAQ page.
How is this fireplace vented?
The Oakville X3 gas fireplace insert uses a 3" exhaust and a 3" intake. Since an insert is installed in a masonry fireplace, the 3" aluminum liners are typically dropped down the chimney. We recommend Napoleon's insert venting components, GDI-223 termination with a liner kit, GDI-2320KT, GDI-2325KT or GDI-2335KT, depending on the height of the chimney. Of course, if you need any assistance in determining which type of venting is best for your situation, give us a call (844)635-5499.
What's the difference between an insert and a fireplace?
In the hearth industry, we refer to an insert as a fireplace that is being installed within an existing masonry fireplace. These units are designed to get hot, therefore they wouldn't be safe installed in a wall opening. A direct vent fireplace, or zero clearance fireplace has additional insulation and heat protection to allow it to be installed close to combustible materials such as wood, they are generally larger in size that inserts.
How do I know if my existing fireplace is big enough?
The minimum firebox opening needed is shown in the images above (21 1/2"H x 29"W x 14-3/8"D (Add 4" depth for optional blower)). When choosing your surround size we generally aim for at least a half inch of overlap on the sides and top.
